A Melbourne band bringing together musicians from India, Sri Lanka and Romania has released its first original single, offering a glimpse into a creative journey that has already earned attention on some of Australia’s multicultural music stages.
Into The Unknown, formed in December 2025, features eight musicians performing across Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi and English. In the months since coming together, the group has supported Indian rock band Thaikkudam Bridge during its Australian tour and opened for Vidya Vox at Melbourne Pavilion. The band is also scheduled to open for Motta Maadi Music in August.
Their debut original release, Anbin Raagam, marks a new chapter for the group as it begins presenting its own material alongside its live performances. Written by band member Avineash, the song takes its title from a Tamil phrase meaning “The Melody of Love”. Rather than focusing on romance, the track explores the connection between artists and the creative force that draws them towards music.
Built around themes of inspiration, curiosity and artistic purpose, the song reflects the experiences of musicians who have travelled from different parts of the world and found common ground through performance.
The accompanying music video expands on those ideas through a narrative centred on a mysterious goddess-like figure representing music itself. As the figure moves through a series of visually striking settings, members of the band follow her path, symbolising the pursuit of creativity and the search for new artistic possibilities.
The production brought together several Melbourne-based creatives. The video was filmed by Ashh Lens, while editing and visual effects were handled by Joshua Heby. Recording, programming, mixing and mastering were completed by Overdrive Music Studio.
For Into The Unknown, the release serves as an introduction to the band’s artistic direction. Combining Tamil lyrics with contemporary fusion sounds and cinematic storytelling, Anbin Raagam highlights the group’s intention to create original work that reflects both their cultural roots and their experiences in Australia.
The band’s name reflects that outlook. Since its formation, Into The Unknown has embraced opportunities that have taken it from local stages to performances alongside established international acts. Members say the project is driven by a willingness to explore new ideas and follow wherever the music leads.
With a growing live profile and its first original release now available, the band appears focused on building momentum while developing a catalogue that reflects the diverse backgrounds of its members.
