Melbourne KMCC recently brought together families from across the city for an educational seminar on Islamic Will and Family Law, held in partnership with FCL Lawyers. The event aimed to raise awareness of how Muslim families can align their personal, religious, and legal responsibilities within Australia’s legal framework.

Imam of Melton, Brother Iyas Harb, opened the evening with a warm welcome and reflections on the value of legal and ethical preparedness in family life. His words set a thoughtful tone before FCL Lawyer Mohammed Zeeshan Ashraf, who travelled from Queensland for the occasion, delivered a detailed presentation. His session explored how Islamic principles intersect with Australian law, outlining practical steps for drafting wills and managing family affairs in ways that honour both faith and the law.

Throughout the evening, attendees engaged closely with the discussions, showing strong community interest in gaining clarity on issues such as inheritance, guardianship, and estate planning. Many participants expressed appreciation for the accessible and informative approach of the session.

KMCC also recognised the contributions of its volunteers, including young members, presenting mementos as a token of gratitude for their continued service. The event’s sponsors, Mr Priince Abraham and Mr Jose from Flyworld, were acknowledged for their ongoing support to KMCC’s community initiatives.

Executive Member Rishal managed the proceedings as Master of Ceremonies, keeping the event running smoothly and ensuring each segment received due attention. KMCC volunteer Fahad closed the evening with a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the speakers, organisers, and guests who contributed to the seminar’s success.

Led by Chairman Shiyas Khalid, the KMCC Executive Committee—including Hilal, Shameer OP, Rishal, Saleem Venkitta, Ajees Makkel, Haris Kodur, Riyas OP, Shabeeb, Mujeeb, and Jafar—played key roles in coordinating the event.

The seminar reinforced KMCC’s commitment to community education and engagement, highlighting its continuing role in providing practical, informative sessions that address real-life needs within Melbourne’s Muslim community.
