Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricketers’ Association have named this year’s top performers in domestic and young cricket ahead of the Australian Cricket Awards, celebrating those who have made a mark on the game.
Chloe Ainsworth, Sam Konstas, Georgia Voll, and Beau Webster took home the honours, each recognised by their peers for outstanding performances in the past season.
At just 19, Chloe Ainsworth continues to impress with the ball. The Western Australia and Perth Scorchers all-rounder secured the Betty Wilson Young Cricketer of the Year award after a season where she thrived in the WBBL, taking 12 wickets at an economy rate of 5.86. Her powerplay spells were particularly effective, helping her team throughout their campaign. She also played a key role in Australia’s U19 team at the World Cup.
Ainsworth admitted she was caught off guard by the recognition. “There are so many talented young players in Australian cricket, so this is pretty cool,” she said. “Playing my first game at the WACA and picking up a couple of wickets was the highlight for me.”
On the men’s side, Sam Konstas had a whirlwind year, culminating in a Boxing Day Test debut at just 19. The Sydney Thunder batter scored 471 runs at 58.87 in the Sheffield Shield, including twin centuries against South Australia—becoming the youngest since Ricky Ponting to achieve that feat.
Konstas, who was named Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year, called the season unforgettable. “To be considered for this award is huge. The Boxing Day Test was surreal—playing against the players I grew up watching and getting a win in such a crucial match was special,” he said.
Georgia Voll’s explosive batting saw her named Women’s Domestic Player of the Year. The 21-year-old made a memorable ODI debut against India, notching 173 runs in the series, including a century. She also lit up the WBBL for Sydney Thunder, earning a spot in the tournament’s best XI.
“It’s humbling to be recognised by the players,” Voll said. “I’ve worked hard on my game and am grateful for the opportunities I’ve had with Queensland, Sydney Thunder, and the national team.”
Beau Webster rounded out the awards as the Men’s Domestic Player of the Year. His consistent performances for Tasmania led to a Test debut in the fifth match of the Border-Gavaskar series. Across all formats, Webster scored over 1,000 runs and took 43 wickets.
“The more you play, the more you learn,” he said. “Playing over 90 First-Class matches has helped me settle into my role. I love playing for Tasmania, and we’ve got a great group that’s been together for a while, which makes a difference.”
The awards were presented ahead of the Australian Cricket Awards ceremony, where the nation’s best are formally recognised.
