The squad for the Prime Minister’s XI match against India has been revealed, showcasing a blend of Australia’s emerging cricket stars and seasoned professionals. Set to take place under lights at Manuka Oval on 30 November, the day-night fixture will offer a taste of pink-ball cricket ahead of India’s Test in Adelaide.

ACT Comet Hanno Jacobs headlines the squad, joining Test-capped players Scott Boland and Matthew Renshaw. Jacobs, a fast-bowling allrounder, has been a standout performer in the Toyota Second XI competition over the past four seasons. His inclusion alongside local ACT premier cricketers adds a strong regional flavour to the team.

Jack Edwards will lead the side, which reunites several former Australian Under-19 teammates, including Charlie Anderson, Mahli Beardman, Aidan O’Connor, and Sam Konstas. Their shared World Cup-winning experience brings added cohesion to a squad brimming with potential.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed his enthusiasm for the event, highlighting its historical significance and the challenge posed by a formidable Indian side featuring global stars such as Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. “The Prime Minister’s XI has a rich history in Australian cricket, and taking on India will be an amazing experience for the squad,” he said. “Jack Edwards’ leadership will be crucial as the team honours the traditions and values of this celebrated fixture.”

National Selection Panel Chair George Bailey echoed these sentiments, noting the balance of experience and youth within the squad. “This match is a fantastic opportunity for these players to showcase their talent against a strong Indian team. It also allows us to ensure Scott Boland maintains his readiness for the Test series,” Bailey said.

The match promises an exciting contest under the iconic pink ball, with cricket fans worldwide tuning in to watch the action unfold.
