The Indian Executive Club will take an active role in promoting the 2015 Asian cup among the SME Businesses and Executives from the Indian Diaspora in Australia and in the Indian Community in Australia.

Principal of IEC Mr Sid Suresh, and Chairman of IEC Mr Vinay Sharma have been appointed Community Ambassadors for the 2015 Asian Cup, and will join the other Ambassadors appointed from other communities to help make Asia’s premier football tournament a cultural celebration for the 2.5 million people of Asian heritage living in Australia.

“Football, more than any other sport, crosses geographic and cultural boundaries, and I am sure in January 2015 we will see people of all backgrounds sitting side by side here in Melbourne watching the biggest football tournament Australia has ever hosted,” said Local Organising Committee CEO Michael Brown.

AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015 will take place from 9 to 31 January in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra and Newcastle.

Australia, Japan, North Korea and South Korea have now been joined by qualifiers Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Uzbekistan, with four further spots to be decided next year.

The tournament is being jointly funded by the Australian Government and the NSW, Victorian, Queensland and ACT Governments.

Whilst India has not qualified for the 2015 Asian Cup, it is expected that Football lovers from India will be taking the opportunity to come to Australia to watch the tournament.

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,
Team The Indian Sun
