Emerging musicians, bands and producers across Western Sydney are being offered free access to a professional recording studio through a new residency program launched by the City of Parramatta.
Expressions of Interest are now open for the first round of the pilot Music Studio Residency program, which will provide successful applicants with dedicated access to the recording facilities at Wentworth Point Community Centre.
The initiative aims to support artists at different stages of their creative development, giving them the opportunity to work on songwriting, recording, mixing and podcast production in a professionally equipped environment.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Martin Zaiter said the program would give local artists access to resources that can often be difficult to afford in the early stages of a career.

He said Wentworth Point Community Centre offered a purpose-built creative space with equipment and support to help emerging artists produce their own work.
Cr Zaiter said the program reflected Council’s commitment to supporting local creative talent while building Parramatta’s standing as a centre for arts and culture. He encouraged eligible musicians to apply and make the most of the opportunity.
The residency forms part of the council’s 12-month trial aimed at making community facilities more affordable and accessible for residents, businesses and community groups. The trial is intended to test new ways of expanding community use of council-owned spaces.
Successful applicants will receive exclusive access to the recording studio for either a one or two-month residency later this year, allowing them to focus on developing projects without the financial pressures often associated with commercial studio hire.
The program is open to musicians and artists aged 18 and over who are based in Western Sydney or can demonstrate a strong connection to the region. Applicants must also be Australian citizens or permanent residents.
Access to affordable recording facilities has long been identified by many emerging artists as one of the practical barriers to developing professional-quality work, particularly in areas outside established inner-city creative precincts. Programs offering studio access, mentoring and creative workspaces have become an increasingly common way for councils and arts organisations to support local music communities.
Round 1 Expressions of Interest close at 12pm on Monday 10 August 2026. A second intake is planned for late 2026.
