Victorians have less than two weeks to nominate individuals and organisations for the 2026 Victorian Multicultural Awards for Excellence, with entries closing at 11.59pm on 13 July.
The annual awards recognise people and organisations that have helped strengthen multiculturalism across Victoria through their work with culturally diverse communities.
Coordinated by the Victorian Multicultural Commission, the awards are marking their 25th year in 2026 and feature 13 categories, including the Victorian Multicultural Honour Roll.
The awards celebrate those who promote cross-cultural understanding and support Victorians from migrant, refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds to participate fully in community life.

The Victorian Multicultural Honour Roll, now in its fifth year, recognises people who have made exceptional and lasting contributions to multiculturalism in Victoria.
Community organisations, volunteers, educators, leaders and individuals who have made a positive impact across Victoria are encouraged to be nominated before the closing date.
Following the close of nominations on 13 July, entries will be assessed during August and mid-September. Successful nominees are expected to be notified in late September, ahead of the awards ceremony on 14 October.
The Victorian Multicultural Awards for Excellence have become one of the state’s longest-running programs recognising leadership, service and community contribution across Victoria’s multicultural communities.
Nominations for all 13 categories remain open until 11.59pm on 13 July 2026.
Support Independent Community Journalism
Dear Reader,The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.
We operate independently.
Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.
When you support The Indian Sun, you support:
• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers
We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.
If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.
Please consider making a contribution today.
Thank you for your support.
