South Australian small businesses will have the opportunity to explore artificial intelligence, digital capability and business resilience when Small Business Week 2026 returns in August.

Running from 17 to 21 August, the annual program will feature the Small Business Expo, workshops and networking events across metropolitan and regional South Australia. A range of online resources will also be made available for business owners unable to attend sessions in person.

Organised by the Office for Small and Family Business in partnership with the Small Business Commission SA, the Industry Advocate and Consumer and Business Services, the event is designed to support small and family businesses as they navigate a changing economic and technological environment.

This year’s program will place a spotlight on AI and digital capability, reflecting the growing role technology is playing in business operations. Sessions will also examine succession planning, business continuity and sustainability, areas that are becoming increasingly important for business owners planning for long-term growth and stability.

Small Business Week forms part of South Australia’s Small Business Strategy 2023-2030, which aims to strengthen the state’s small business sector through support programs, skills development and improved access to government services and networks.

The Office for Small and Family Business, established in 2022, provides resources and guidance for businesses at various stages of development. Its services include information on starting a business, exporting, cyber security, workforce management and business planning.

South Australia’s small business sector continues to face a mix of challenges, including cost pressures, workforce shortages and rapid technological change. Industry groups and business advocates have increasingly highlighted the need for practical support and digital skills training to help operators remain competitive.

Minister for Small and Family Business Nadia Clancy said Small Business Week offers business owners a chance to learn from experts, connect with peers and strengthen their capabilities.

She said the week brings together practical tools, industry knowledge and networking opportunities that can help businesses identify and pursue new opportunities while building resilience.

The full Small Business Week 2026 program is expected to be released in the coming months and will be available through the South Australian Government’s business website.

Support Independent Community Journalism

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.

We operate independently.

Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.

When you support The Indian Sun, you support:

• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers

We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.

If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.

Please consider making a contribution today.

Thank you for your support.
