Raw Mango will present its collections in Melbourne later this month, with a two-day pop-up scheduled at Gallery North in Fitzroy on 28 and 29 March.
The event forms part of a broader Australia showcase running from 21 to 29 March, with presentations in both Sydney and Melbourne organised by Studio INPRINT. The Melbourne showing will follow an earlier Sydney trunk show at Fairfax House.
Founded in 2008 by textile designer Sanjay Garg, Raw Mango has built its work around handloom practices and ongoing experimentation with textile forms. The label states that its approach is “centered on explorations of possibility,” extending across garments, architecture and collaborations.
The Melbourne pop-up will feature a selection of the brand’s recent collections, including Festive 2025, Summer 2025 and earlier lines such as Garland and Playground. These works draw on weaving traditions from regions including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Varanasi, combining established techniques with new material treatments.
According to the organisers, “each collection at Raw Mango has posed questions about the cultural context in which textiles are made and worn.” The presentations are intended to place these collections within a wider discussion of material culture and design practice.
A public conversation will accompany the Melbourne showcase on 28 March at Gallery North, where Garg will join design commentator Neil Hugh Kenna. The discussion will focus on contemporary design and the cultural ideas shaping it.
According to organisers, the events reflect “Raw Mango’s growing relationship with Australia’s vibrant South Asian diaspora and its wider community of collectors,” and place the showcase within an ongoing exchange between Indian textile traditions and audiences in Australia.
Raw Mango says its work draws “from the vibrant philosophies and cultures of India,” with designs created alongside weavers across multiple regions. The label adds that it continues to build “new conversations within textile, tradition and identity” through its collections.
