The squads for six clubs in the upcoming WJ Dowling Shield under-16 competition have been announced, signalling the commencement of preparations for what is a key tier in the player pathway of Cricket Victoria.
The competition targets young cricketers aged 14 or 15 as of 1 September and serves as a stepping-stone towards higher age-group selections.
Among those listed for the Camberwell Magpies are Aarav Iyer, Arush Chopra, Arya Gupta, Clarence Spurr, Daksh Saini, Jackson McLeod, Max Holt, Mitchell Caspersz, Mitchell Cliff, Neel Kotwal, Nikhil Suresh, Romesh Gunatilake, Sarang Chavali and Yuvin De Silva.
The Casey South Melbourne squad includes Ayaan Thareja, Aryan Ghanekar, Ayaan Tanwar, Kaiden Kilpatrick, Thevin Sembukuttiarachi, Ryan Ghusain, Mickle Farooqi, Ashen Fernando, Shaurya Patel, Amaan Gill, Zac O’Connor, Nadim Nazif, Aaarave Verma and Dev Shoor.
For the Greenvale Kangaroos the chosen players are Dev Adeshara, Xavier De Fazio, Nelith Ashley Fernando, Viman Fernando, Beau Gannon, James Gray, Blake Jones, Dunitha Kalupahana, Senitha Kalupahana, Cooper McDowell, Ali Saleemi, Aarush Sehajpal, Armann Virk and Nate Yze.
The Kingston Hawthorn list features Jake Webster, Rohan Das, Will Lawson, Luke Hibberd, Hirun Samarasinghe, Shaven Rajapakse, Keerat Singh, Finn Mitchell, Riyan Prajapati, Sanithu Palliyaralalge Don, Taranjot Singh Soi, Paddy Varney, Henry Love and Kanish Gattu.
At Prahran the selected players are Sidd Bhatnagar, Matt Esposito, Tom Haydon, Viraj Dev Kumaran, Shaan Loganathan, Oscar McKeown, Bradley Moore, Peter O’Malley, Harry Power, Angus Schlittler, Samar Partap Singh, Lucas Van Gurp, James Walsh and Lenny Wilkins.
Finally, the Ringwood squad includes Aiyaan Ariketty, Toby Bickell, Tom Croaker, Blake Doherty, Ranen Gandhi, Amos Horneman, Tom Lavelle, Ollie Mackay, Xavier Niemann, Shaunak Parab, Ansh Sharma, Harper Sinclair, Lincoln Walker and Josh Wilkins.
The competition is typically held over a three-week period in January and includes a mix of one-day and T20 matches across three pools of six teams each.
