Local sports clubs across Victoria are set to benefit from new funding as the Allan Labor Government opens applications for the latest round of the Sporting Club Grants Program.
Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence said the initiative aims to give clubs the equipment and training they need to keep growing and to ensure they continue to be a central part of community life.
The program offers grants of up to $5,000 to improve the skills and knowledge of volunteers, coaches and officials. Clubs can also apply for up to $4,000 to run new community programs, $1,000 to purchase uniforms and equipment, and $750 to help cover travel costs for competitions.
Past recipients show how small grants can make a big difference. The Victorian Roller Derby League used nearly $1,000 for skates, bibs and safety gear, giving newcomers a chance to try the sport at no cost. Traralgon Table Tennis Association used its funding to buy wheelchair-friendly tables, making the game more inclusive for para-athletes.
Since its inception, the Sporting Club Grants Program has delivered more than $19.5 million to community sport, helping thousands of local clubs improve facilities, access and participation. The initiative is supported by the Regional Community Sport Development Fund, which continues to help more Victorians get active and involved in their local sporting communities.
Minister Spence said community sport remains at the heart of local life. “Sports clubs and their participants are the heart of local communities,” she said. “This investment will open up opportunities on and off the field, ensuring clubs have the equipment and skills they need into the future.”
Applications for the current round close on 26 November 2025. Further details are available at sport.vic.gov.au.
