SBI Foundation has launched a special registration drive for the 13th batch of its flagship Youth for India Fellowship, inviting young professionals and graduates to work alongside rural communities across India. The initiative, which begins in October 2025, is open to SBI employees, Overseas Citizens of India, NRIs, and citizens of Nepal and Bhutan, with applications closing on 11 September 2025.
The 13-month fully funded fellowship provides participants aged 21 to 32 with an opportunity to live and work in rural areas while collaborating with 13 leading NGOs. The program covers 12 thematic areas, including health, education, rural livelihoods, environmental sustainability, women’s empowerment, water, technology, alternate energy, self-governance, traditional crafts, social entrepreneurship, and food security.
Mr. Sanjay Prakash, MD & CEO of SBI Foundation, said: “The SBI Youth for India Fellowship reflects our commitment to empowering young minds with the exposure and empathy required to address rural challenges. By welcoming applications from our own SBI employees, we are expanding the reach of this transformative journey. We believe the SBI Youth for India Fellowship not only creates long-lasting impact in rural communities but also nurtures future leaders who carry with them the spirit of service, innovation, and sustainability”.
Since its inception in 2011, the fellowship has built a strong alumni network of 640 fellows who have impacted more than 150,000 lives in over 250 villages across 21 states. Nearly 70 per cent of alumni continue to work in fields such as development, public policy, academia, and governance. More than 100 have gone on to pursue higher education in social impact, while over 40 have launched social ventures.
Selected fellows will report at SWRC (Barefoot College), Tilonia, Rajasthan, on 4 October 2025 to begin the orientation programme. The fellowship officially starts on 6 October 2025.

Support Independent Community Journalism
Dear Reader,The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.
We operate independently.
Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.
When you support The Indian Sun, you support:
• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers
We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.
If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.
Please consider making a contribution today.
Thank you for your support.
