Queensland MP Mick de Brenni has made a stop at Kulcha Kulture in Slacks Creek, calling it “an amazing meal and terrific chat about growing a vibrant restaurant and nightlife culture in our region.”

Now serving as Manager of Opposition Business, de Brenni shared a photo from the visit, pictured outside the restaurant with Parnham and Harpreet, two local community members who had encouraged him to make the trip.

“It’s not often I’ll jump the motorway for a feed,” he wrote, “but my friends Parnham and Harpreet insisted it would be worth the trip. And they weren’t wrong.”

Located just off the Pacific Motorway, Kulcha Kulture opened its Slacks Creek location in 2019. The business traces its branding to an earlier venture in Amritsar in 2000, but it’s the local operation that has built a steady following in Logan with its Punjabi and Amritsari dishes.

The visit comes as hospitality takes on a renewed role in Queensland’s post-COVID economy. Logan—one of the state’s most culturally diverse regions—has seen growing momentum in food businesses led by migrant entrepreneurs. Restaurants like Kulcha Kulture are part of that story, contributing to local identity and offering job opportunities for younger workers.

While the visit was informal, de Brenni’s remarks highlight the growing recognition of food culture as both a social connector and economic driver. For Logan’s hospitality scene, it was a vote of confidence from someone familiar with the importance of building strong, local economies—one meal at a time.
