Wyndham’s Deputy Mayor Josh Gilligan and Councillor Preet Singh were among the guests of honour at the launch of Care 2 Shine, a new NDIS-registered service founded by nurses Mili and Vandana. The new venture has received early backing from both local government and grassroots supporters.
Held in Wyndham, the launch brought together community leaders, entrepreneurs, and families from both Punjabi and Malayali backgrounds, reflecting the diversity the business hopes to serve. As part of the launch, Cr Gilligan unveiled the new Care 2 Shine website, a custom-built platform fully compliant with NDIS guidelines.
Mili, addressing guests, acknowledged the changing world of work in the face of AI, but stressed the enduring need for care and connection. “CARE 2 SHINE isn’t just going to weather this AI wave,” she said. “We’re going to ride it, grow stronger and shine brighter.” Reflecting on the partnership, she shared how Vandana, her colleague of eleven years, approached her with the idea of launching something for the community.
“On paper, we’re quite different,” she said. “Vandana’s from a Punjabi family, grounded in Eastern philosophy, while I come from a South Indian household with a taste for Western thought. We speak different mother tongues, celebrate different festivals and draw on different traditions. And yet, what binds us is far stronger than what divides us.”
Vandana shared a similar sentiment, recalling their meeting years ago at Werribee Mercy Hospital. “Mili was my senior, mentor and friend,” she said. “Her compassion for patients and unwavering respect for her juniors left a lasting impression on me.” When she and her husband began exploring ways to contribute to the community, Mili was the first person she reached out to.
The new website, care2shine.com.au, was built by Anil and his team at Elite Digital Australia. Mili thanked the contributors including Shireesha, Devang Narula, Arushi and Bharat.
Guests at the event included Reji, Vice-President of Wyndham Malayalee and owner of Our Spices, as well as former Wyndham Malayalee President Venu Nair. Other attendees included Manoj Guravayoor from WYN FM, Pramod Kutty from Connect2MyDoctor, mortgage broker Lincon Arora, business owner Vinod Malhotra of Copper Brazier, social worker Monica Sharma, and Harry Singh from Bottlemart.
Mili thanked Deputy Mayor Gilligan for what she described as twelve years of unwavering support, and acknowledged Cr Singh’s efforts in making Wyndham a safer community. Vandana added, “Your presence underscores your commitment to the Wyndham community, and we are grateful for the support you continue to offer to local enterprises.”
Care 2 Shine aims to offer personalised, inclusive support to participants under the NDIS. While the business is new, the founders bring decades of experience in healthcare, and their message is rooted in respect, teamwork and service. “Let’s celebrate together,” Mili said, “not just our new website or our new business, but the promise that with courage, respect and a bit of teamwork, we really can make the future happen now.”
