Mahindra & Mahindra is stepping into the electric vehicle market with the unveiling of two distinct SUVs, the BE 6e and XEV 9e. Aiming to redefine the EV experience, these models offer a mix of practicality, cutting-edge technology, and aesthetic appeal, designed to resonate with a wide spectrum of drivers.
The BE 6e, compact and sporty, caters to urban adventurers with its futuristic design and agile dimensions. On the other hand, the XEV 9e targets luxury seekers, boasting a bold presence with its sleek LED lighting and premium interiors. Both models promise a driving range of over 500 kilometres on a single charge, supported by 59kWh and 79kWh LFP battery options. The fast-charging feature allows a quick boost from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes using a 175kW DC charger, enhancing convenience for both city commutes and long journeys.
Pricing the BE 6e at approximately $33,750 AUD and the XEV 9e at around $39,000 AUD, Mahindra positions these models as compelling choices in the competitive EV landscape. Production is gearing up with an initial capacity of 90,000 units annually, with plans to double by 2026. The first deliveries are expected by February 2025, signalling Mahindra’s determination to establish itself in the EV market.
Although Australia isn’t on the confirmed launch map yet, Mahindra’s growing reputation and the increasing demand for electric vehicles could make these models future contenders for Australian roads. With their combination of affordability, innovation, and style, the BE 6e and XEV 9e could become global hits.
Mahindra’s foray into the electric SUV space not only reflects the shift towards sustainable mobility but also highlights the brand’s ambition to cater to diverse driving needs. As the EV market continues to evolve, Mahindra’s bold entry adds a fresh perspective to the road ahead.

Dear Reader,The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability.
