V/Line is set to bring in sweeping timetable changes from Sunday, 1 December, transforming regional travel with more frequent and efficient services across key routes.

The Geelong Line emerges as a standout in this update, with 68 new weekend services and 20 existing ones now extended to Waurn Ponds. Passengers travelling on weekends between 8 am and 9 pm can look forward to a train every 20 minutes, cutting down wait times and making leisure or essential trips far more convenient.

For commuters in Bacchus Marsh, changes to morning and afternoon peak services offer notable time savings. Five weekday morning and afternoon services will now shave three to five minutes off travel times. Additionally, three evening peak trains, which previously ended their journey at Melton, will extend to Bacchus Marsh, creating smoother commutes.

The Warrnambool Line gains an additional weekend return service, boosting travel options between Warrnambool and Melbourne. Meanwhile, the Albury and Bendigo lines will see the permanent inclusion of two weekend services previously run on a trial basis, ensuring continuity for regional travellers.

To ensure smooth transitions between different modes of transport, bus and coach timetables will also be aligned with the updated train schedules, further improving the travel experience for passengers.

This overhaul signals V/Line’s effort to make regional travel faster, more reliable, and tailored to the needs of its growing passenger base. For Victorians, this December marks a new chapter in public transport.

Support Independent Community Journalism

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.

We operate independently.

Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.

When you support The Indian Sun, you support:

• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers

We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.

If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.

Please consider making a contribution today.

Thank you for your support.
