Director of Sydney’s luxury dessert destination, KOI Dessert Bar, Ronald Poernomo, said they have been a part of Lanes for eight years and are excited to be back this year

Parramatta Lanes is back, bringing an explosion of flavours, sights, and sounds to the city. The festival, known for showcasing local businesses and international talent, promises an exciting lineup of food, drinks, and experiences that will leave you wanting more. From bespoke menu items and signature snacks to pop-up stalls and portrait painting sessions, this year’s event is packed with fresh offerings.

Food lovers are in for a treat as 25 retailers across Parramatta’s CBD present a variety of cuisines. Whether it’s grabbing a quick bite of Malaysian, Indian, Filipino, or Middle Eastern fare or savouring luxurious desserts, there’s something for everyone. Restaurants like Mamak, Baba Ghanouj, Nick & Nora’s, LilyMu, and Gelato Messina, along with local gems such as Kampung Laksa and Bombat Masala, are set to make an appearance.

According to Gail Connolly, the City of Parramatta’s chief executive officer, the event has become a mainstay for the community, delivering more than just culinary delights. “Last year, we welcomed over 180,000 visitors and saw a $1.5 million boost to our local economy. This year, it’s not just about what’s happening in our streets and lanes. Restaurants, bars, and stores across the CBD will be offering signature dishes, extravagant desserts, limited-edition cocktails, and one-of-a-kind experiences.”

KOI Dessert Bar’s Ronald Poernomo is especially excited to return, marking the dessert destination’s eighth year at the festival. “KOI has deep roots in Parramatta, and sharing our creations with the community each year is always special. We’ve got some brand new treats to showcase alongside our classics.”

With a dazzling array of cocktails and drinks at venues such as Willo, Crinitis, and Hunter & Barrel, there’s plenty to sip while you explore. For those who fancy a more hands-on experience, Eckersley’s Art & Crafts is hosting a ‘paint your partner’ portrait session, alongside generous discounts on art supplies for those eager to upgrade their creative kits.

Running from 23 to 26 October, Parramatta Lanes promises four nights of live music, giant art installations, and countless ways to indulge. Whether you’re here for the food, the drinks, or the art, you’ll find plenty to satisfy your senses.

Support Independent Community Journalism

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.

We operate independently.

Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.

When you support The Indian Sun, you support:

• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers

We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.

If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.

Please consider making a contribution today.

Thank you for your support.
