The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) has unveiled its much-anticipated nominations for 2024, marking its 15th edition. As the largest Indian film festival held on foreign soil, IFFM is a significant showcase of the diversity and depth of Indian cinema.
Presented by the Victorian Government, IFFM is an annual celebration of Indian cinema, aiming to promote cultural exchange and celebrate the diversity of Indian films and digital series on an international stage. This year’s festival will run from 15 August to 25 August, with the prestigious IFFM 2024 Awards set to be announced at the annual gala night on 16 August, hosted at the Palais Theatre in Melbourne.
The festival’s nominations highlight a mix of established and emerging talents. Shah Rukh Khan, known as King Khan, is in the running for the Best Actor category, competing with talents such as Vikrant Massey, Fahadh Faasil, Ranveer Singh, Kartik Aaryan, and Mithun Chakraborty. In the Best Actress category, Alia Bhatt faces competition from Jyothika, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and emerging stars Nitanshi Goel and Pratibha Ranta from Laapataa Ladies.
In the OTT category, series like Heeramandi, Poacher, and Made In Heaven Season 2 lead the nominations. The winners will be revealed at the gala event, celebrating the best in Indian cinema and digital content.
