In a continued show of support for Ukraine, Australia has announced the gifting of 30 additional Bushmaster protected mobility vehicles, expanding their commitment to a total of 120 units.

This move marks Australia’s contribution of military assistance to Ukraine surpassing $710 million, with overall assistance reaching approximately $890 million.

The recent announcement, made in Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s media release, follows Australia’s generous gift of 70 highly capable military vehicles and a supply of critical 105mm ammunition, along with a $10 million contribution to the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund, all revealed in late June.

Furthermore, Australia’s commitment to aid Ukraine has been reinforced by the deployment of a Royal Australian Air Force E-7A Wedgetail aircraft to Germany for approximately six months, starting in October. This deployment, including up to 100 crew and support personnel, aims to protect a gateway of international humanitarian and military assistance to Ukraine by providing early warning against any external threats.

The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the decision to gift additional Bushmaster vehicles, emphasizing Australia’s unwavering support for Ukraine.

He stated, “Australia remains steadfast in its commitment to support Ukraine. We are proud to provide additional Bushmaster vehicles to assist the brave men and women fighting for their home and their nation’s sovereignty.”

The Prime Minister also addressed the ongoing conflict, condemning Russia’s unilateral and immoral invasion, and urging the withdrawal of Russian troops to bring about a rapid conclusion to the crisis. He added, “Russia unilaterally launched this illegal and immoral invasion and should withdraw its troops and end the conflict immediately.”

Together with international partners, Australia continues to explore practical avenues for assisting the Ukrainian government and its people, striving to bring an end to the unlawful aggression perpetrated by Russia.
