Delhiites in Sydney is a group formed of people who have migrated from Delhi to Sydney. Over time it has become a great platform to share thoughts, celebrate and help fellow Delhiites who have made Sydney their home.
On 20 October the group hosted a pre-Diwali party in what can best be described as complete Delhi style. Kids did various dance performances including Ganesh Vandana by Aaradhya Sharma, a cultural dance performance by Prisha Joshi along with her mother Surya Joshi, and a classical dance by Elisha Gupta. Some members sang duets and Lakshay Gupta showcased a wonderful western dance performance. With lots of prizes for kids and adults, it was a fun-filled event with a sumptuous dinner and Delhi style DJ dance party.
The event was sponsored by Eco World International, while the special magic show was arranged by Dazzle Diamonds. The other sponsors included Red Chilli N Curries, Blue Hill Real Estate, Jyotika Malhotra Make-up Maestro, Yummylicious, Vijesh Khanna—The Dream Home Expert, Bhukkad.com, Ginger Indian Restaurant, DreamLiving Furnishing, Normanhurst Dental, Heart and Soul Productions Pty Ltd, Henna Hub Sydney, Desi Handyman, Krishna Astrology and Pujan Services, The Indian Sun, Krishna Financial Services, Event Genie—Event Management Services and Graphynix. The photography on the day was by Delhi 6 Photography by Mukul, who did a splendid job that captured the spirit of the evening.
This event would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of every member of the organising committee of Delhiites in Sydney—Amber Tandon, Amrita Gupta, Jyotika Malhotra, Manish Kumar, Mukul Mahajan, Priya Sharma, Swati Khurana, Vijesh Khanna and Vaarun Malhotra.
Support Independent Community Journalism
Dear Reader,The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.
We operate independently.
Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.
When you support The Indian Sun, you support:
• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers
We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.
If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.
Please consider making a contribution today.
Thank you for your support.
