Around 80 participants came together for an Indian Society of WA (ISWA) Connecting Seniors event focused on learning, community connection and practical information for older members of the community.
Held in partnership with LifeLinkConnect, the session covered a range of topics aimed at helping seniors feel more informed and supported in an increasingly digital environment.
Participants were introduced to LifeLinkConnect and its app, while cybersecurity and online safety were also among the topics discussed during the event. The session also provided an opportunity for the community to learn more about the ISWA Seniors Survey.
The event combined information-sharing with the chance for participants to meet, talk and build connections with other members of the community. ISWA described the gathering as a morning of learning, connection and community spirit, with participants taking part in discussions and activities throughout the session.
Digital safety was one of the key areas addressed, reflecting the growing need for people of all ages to understand how to navigate online services safely. By bringing information about cybersecurity and online safety into a community setting, the event provided seniors with an opportunity to engage with these issues in a familiar environment.
LifeLinkConnect volunteers were among those who contributed to the event, while speakers and ISWA colleagues also supported the programme.
ISWA acknowledged the support of LifeLinkConnect, BHP Western Australia, Volunteering WA and the City of Canning, as well as the volunteers and community members who helped organise and deliver the session.
The organisation also thanked the seniors and other community members who attended, highlighting their enthusiasm and participation as an important part of the gathering.
For ISWA, the event formed part of its broader community-focused work, bringing people together around information, connection and support. The session also provided a space for seniors to share the morning with others while learning about services, digital safety and initiatives relevant to the community.
With around 80 people taking part, the gathering demonstrated the interest in opportunities that combine practical information with social connection. The event ended with ISWA recognising the contribution of the participants and everyone involved in making the session possible.
