India-Australia cooperation in higher education, research and innovation was discussed during a visit by Indian High Commissioner Nagesh Singh to Adelaide University.
Singh met Professor Jessica Gallagher, Deputy Vice Chancellor for International and External Engagement, for discussions focused on strengthening institutional links between India and Australia.
The talks covered potential collaboration in several areas, including student and researcher mobility, joint research and stronger connections between universities and industry.
Green energy, critical minerals, artificial intelligence, agriculture and space were also identified as areas for further cooperation.
Adelaide University officially began operating in January 2026 and Professor Gallagher currently leads its International and External Engagement portfolio. The university has previously highlighted India as an important area for international engagement, including through institutional partnerships and academic collaboration.
The meeting comes as universities and governments in both countries continue to explore opportunities for education, research and industry partnerships, with student and researcher exchanges forming part of the broader relationship.
The discussions in Adelaide focused on identifying areas where institutions can work more closely, while creating opportunities for students, researchers and industry partners to engage across both countries.
