Melbourne Airport is preparing for major changes to its Terminal 1, 2 and 3 pick-up and drop-off arrangements, with a new T123 Transport Hub opening on Tuesday, 6 October.
The new arrangements are designed to give passengers clearer access to assistance as they make their way through the airport, with additional support available for people with mobility needs, passengers carrying luggage and those who need help finding their way around.
A free Melbourne Airport Assist service will operate seven days a week, from 3am until 1am, providing passengers with assistance throughout the airport journey.
Mobility Hubs will be positioned at various points along the journey, giving passengers places to access support when they need it. Melbourne Airport will also have more buggies and powered wheelchairs available.
Airport staff will be stationed throughout the new arrangements to help passengers navigate the changes, answer questions and provide directions.
Passengers who require special assistance can continue to pre-book support before arriving at the airport. Those who have not made arrangements in advance can also speak with a Melbourne Airport team member when they arrive.
Support will also be available for passengers who use a Hidden Disability Lanyard, helping staff recognise when someone may need additional assistance during their journey.
The changes come as Melbourne Airport continues work on its transport arrangements around the T123 precinct. Passengers travelling to or from Terminals 1, 2 and 3 will need to familiarise themselves with the new pick-up and drop-off arrangements before travelling.
Melbourne Airport is encouraging travellers to check its maps and guides before arriving so they know where to go once the new Transport Hub opens.
With the changes taking effect from 6 October, passengers who require extra assistance are encouraged to allow additional time for their journey and make use of the support services available at the airport.

Support Independent Community Journalism
Dear Reader,The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.
We operate independently.
Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.
When you support The Indian Sun, you support:
• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers
We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.
If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.
Please consider making a contribution today.
Thank you for your support.
