The Association of Australian Rajasthanis Inc. has elected a new working committee following its Annual General Meeting, with the organisation set to continue its focus on cultural activities and community connections across Victoria.

The new committee will be led by Arix Bishnoi as President, with Sanjay Rajpurohit serving as Vice President, Devendra Singh Khangarot as Secretary and Virendra Khatana as Treasurer. Vandana Rathore and Vinay Khandelwal have been appointed Public Relations Officers.

The Annual General Meeting gave registered members an opportunity to review the association’s activities and achievements before electing the committee for the next term.

Mr Bishnoi said he was honoured to take on the presidency and would work with members to create more opportunities for participation and connection.

“Our aim is to work together as a community and create more opportunities for people to connect, participate and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan,” he said.

The association has organised cultural celebrations, social gatherings and community initiatives aimed at bringing members together and introducing Rajasthani traditions to the wider community.

Mr Bishnoi said the new committee would also seek to strengthen relationships with multicultural organisations across Victoria.

“We also want to build stronger relationships with other multicultural organisations and communities across Victoria,” he said.

“Rajasthan has a rich history, traditions, music, dance, food and arts, and we want to share that heritage with the wider Australian community.”

The committee has identified collaboration and community participation as priorities for the coming term. It also plans to support activities that encourage younger members to stay connected with their cultural heritage while creating opportunities to work with other community organisations.

The association’s cultural programmes offer members an opportunity to maintain connections with Rajasthan while giving the broader community a chance to learn about its traditions, arts and food.

Outgoing committee members and volunteers were acknowledged for their contributions to the organisation and its activities.

With the new committee now in place, the Association of Australian Rajasthanis Inc. will continue its work as a cultural and community organisation in Victoria, with the new leadership team looking to build on existing activities and expand community participation.

“Our community has a lot to offer, and together we can showcase the best of Rajasthan while contributing positively to Australia’s wonderfully diverse multicultural society,” Mr Bishnoi said.

Support Independent Community Journalism

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.

We operate independently.

Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.

When you support The Indian Sun, you support:

• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers

We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.

If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.

Please consider making a contribution today.
