Greater Springfield is preparing for an evening of music, dance and cultural celebration, with the Greater Springfield Indian Association (GSIA) inviting the community to its annual Dandiya Night on Saturday, 29 August.
The free event will be held from 4pm at Robelle Domain Parklands and is expected to attract families and visitors from across Greater Springfield and neighbouring suburbs. The Indian Sun is supporting the event as its media partner.
Dandiya Night is traditionally celebrated during the lead-up to Navratri and has become a popular community event in many parts of Australia, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds through music, dance and shared festivities.
Organisers say this year’s program has been designed to appeal to all ages, with live Garba and Dandiya music, cultural performances, family activities and food stalls creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
A live DJ will keep the celebrations going throughout the evening with popular Garba and Dandiya tracks, while food vendor Wah Wah Swaad will offer a range of Indian dishes for visitors.
The event is open to experienced dancers as well as those trying Garba or Dandiya for the first time.
“Whether you are a seasoned dancer or joining for the first time, everyone is welcome,” organisers said, encouraging attendees to wear traditional or festive clothing and join in the celebrations.
Community events such as Dandiya Night have become a regular feature of Greater Springfield’s calendar as the region continues to grow and welcome residents from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. They provide opportunities for communities to share traditions while encouraging broader participation and cultural understanding.
With free entry, organisers are expecting a strong turnout and are encouraging families, friends and local residents to arrive early and enjoy the full program of entertainment.
