Women from across South Australia have been recognised at the Women of Impact Awards, with recipients celebrated at a ceremony held at Government House.
Katrine Hildyard MP attended the event and congratulated the award recipients and finalists, highlighting the range of work being carried out by women across communities and industries.
Hildyard said the awards recognised women who had challenged established ways of doing things, found their voices in difficult circumstances, supported others and taken on leadership roles within their communities and professions.
She said recognising women from a range of backgrounds was important, particularly because public recognition can encourage younger generations to pursue their own ambitions.
“It is important that we recognise a diversity of women in this way,” Hildyard said. “Because when women are recognised, generations are inspired.”
The awards brought together women recognised for their contributions and achievements, with Hildyard extending her congratulations to every finalist.
She also thanked the Governor of South Australia for hosting the event and for her continued advocacy for women and girls and for equality.
The event provided an opportunity to acknowledge the work of women across different areas of South Australian life, from community involvement to professional and industry leadership.
Hildyard said the recipients had demonstrated a willingness to challenge barriers, support others and pursue their goals, while recognising that many had done so in the face of adversity.
She described the evening as an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the finalists while looking ahead to the work and opportunities that remain before them.
The Women of Impact Awards form part of broader efforts to recognise women’s contributions across South Australia and provide a platform for highlighting the range of ways women contribute to their communities and workplaces.
