Volunteers from Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS) Melbourne presented a cultural dance performance at the Melbourne Meets Modi community event held at Marvel Stadium on 9 July.
The event, attended by more than 30,000 people, celebrated the friendship between India and Australia and brought together community members, multicultural organisations and invited guests from both countries.
DJJS Melbourne’s performance highlighted Indian cultural traditions and themes of peace, unity and harmony. “Our aim was to celebrate India’s rich cultural heritage while sharing a message of peace, unity and universal brotherhood. We are grateful for the opportunity to perform before such a diverse audience and to contribute to an event that brought communities together,” a DJJS spokesman said.
The presentation was divided into three segments. The first two featured original lyrics and music written, composed and performed by DJJS volunteers, while the final segment also showcased vocals by volunteers from the organisation.
DJJS is a global socio-spiritual organisation founded under the guidance of His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj. The Melbourne branch regularly participates in community and cultural events across Victoria.
Following the performance, DJJS Melbourne thanked the organisers of Melbourne Meets Modi, volunteers and participating community organisations for bringing together people from diverse backgrounds to celebrate culture, friendship and multiculturalism.
The organisation said it was honoured to represent Indian culture at one of the largest Indian community gatherings held in Australia in recent years.
