Jessica Mauboy will lead Parramatta’s major New Year’s Eve celebration as the city prepares for one of its biggest public events of the year. Parramatta Park will turn into a large open-air festival space on 31 December, with three stages, a family-friendly drone show and a 9pm fireworks display.
The free event starts at 5pm and brings a broad line-up, with Furnace and the Fundamentals and former yellow Wiggle Emma Memma joining Mauboy. Crowds can expect live music, food trucks and activities aimed at families who want to welcome the new year in a relaxed setting.
Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said the city is gearing up for its biggest New Year’s Eve yet. “Parramatta is known for throwing a tremendous event and after a record-breaking Parramatta Lanes and the return of Carols in Parramatta Park next month, we are aiming to end the year with a bang at our New Year’s Eve party,” he said.
Cr Zaiter said the drone show will be introduced for the first time, adding a new feature to an already well-loved event. “This is the first year Parramatta’s New Year’s Eve celebration will have a drone show, rivalling displays seen in Brisbane and Melbourne, followed by the 9pm fireworks display,” he said.
He encouraged families to arrive early to enjoy the full line-up. “Bring your family and get in early to see superstars Jess Mauboy, Furnace and the Fundamentals and Emma Memma taking to three stages across the night.”
Entry is free, though anyone hoping to access the Crescent Stage will need a wristband. They can be collected from 1pm at the Crescent Stage wristband tent, offered at no cost on a first come, first served basis, with up to five wristbands available per person. All other areas will remain open without a wristband.
Organisers expect more than 80,000 people in Parramatta Park across the afternoon and evening. “There will be road closures leading up to the event and we recommend taking public transport into the CBD for the big night,” Cr Zaiter said.
He added that the night is planned for all ages. “This is a family-friendly, safe event and everyone is welcome to celebrate the end of 2025 and the start of 2026 here in Parramatta.”
