Western Australia’s premium produce has been showcased to global buyers through Taste WA 2025, a trade mission designed to strengthen export connections and open new markets for local agribusinesses.

More than 20 international buyers from across Asia and the Middle East toured Perth, the South West and Great Southern regions, meeting more than 90 WA food and beverage producers. The week-long visit introduced guests to the State’s wide-ranging offerings—from wagyu beef and abalone to truffles, seafood and wine—while giving them a first-hand look at production, provenance and the people behind the products.

The program featured visits to farms, processing facilities and paddock-to-plate dining experiences that emphasised local sourcing and sustainability. It concluded with Meet the Buyer, WA’s largest food and beverage industry showcase, held in Perth to connect producers with export partners.

The initiative was coordinated by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development with support from Austrade TradeStart partners and regional development commissions. It forms part of the WA Government’s broader effort to grow agrifood exports and diversify the State’s economy by building stronger commercial relationships abroad.

Agriculture and Food Minister Jackie Jarvis said previous Taste WA missions had already helped WA producers secure new trade opportunities. “We know these programs have generated hundreds of business connections and contributed to millions of dollars in export growth,” she said. “That’s a direct reflection of the quality and appeal of Western Australian produce.”

Regional Development Minister Stephen Dawson said the program gives visiting buyers the chance to experience regional production environments first-hand. “It helps international guests understand what makes Western Australian food and beverages stand out,” he said.

Taste WA has become one of the State’s key agrifood promotion platforms, with past missions helping WA beef, chicken and dairy reach new export markets. With this year’s delegation spanning countries from Japan and South Korea to Qatar and India, the event continues to position Western Australia as a trusted source of premium, sustainably produced food.
