The hatted Indian restaurant Kolkata Cricket Club has unveiled a new private dining venue, designed for corporate gatherings and special occasions, adding another draw to Crown Melbourne’s bustling hospitality hub.

Led by chef Mischa Tropp, the restaurant has become one of Melbourne’s most sought-after dining destinations, now opening its doors to events ranging from intimate dinners to grand celebrations. The new space offers flexible layouts, catering for 20 to 70 seated guests or up to 80 standing, with the option to expand into the adjoining Sports Bar for larger gatherings of up to 120. Full venue hire is also available for guests seeking exclusivity.

Interior designer Min Tseng has curated the new room with burnt orange tones, hand-crafted lamps from Jaipur, and bespoke teak chairs made locally by Scarfo Furniture Melbourne, inspired by Tropp’s travels through Bengal.

Guests can enjoy the restaurant’s acclaimed menu featuring flame-licked meats, tandoor-baked naans and its famous butter chicken, complemented by beverage packages that include Champagne, rare whiskies, and standout Australian-Indian wines from producers such as Bindi and Avani.

Kolkata Cricket Club Founder, Mischa Tropp, said: “We’re always thinking about how to make our guests feel at home. This new setup gives us the freedom to tailor each event to what people really want. Whether it’s something intimate, an elegant banquet or a big celebration, it’s all about keeping things fun and flexible.”

Located within Crown Melbourne, the restaurant joins one of Australia’s most recognisable entertainment precincts. Since opening in 1994, Crown has become synonymous with luxury dining and hospitality, attracting more than 26 million visitors annually. The complex features over 1,600 rooms across Crown Towers, Metropol and Promenade, as well as world-class event venues such as the Palladium Ballroom and Crown Conference Centre.

Bookings for Kolkata Cricket Club’s private dining space are now available via the Crown website.
