Children with disabilities and their families are set to enjoy a sensory-friendly afternoon of connection, creativity, and empowerment at the upcoming Children’s Rights High Tea, part of Children’s Week 2025 celebrations in Victoria.
Hosted by Lion and Mouse Australia Ltd, the event will take place at the Featherbrook Community Centre in Point Cook on Friday, 24 October, from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. Designed to be inclusive and accessible, the High Tea aims to help children explore and express their rights in a safe and welcoming setting.
The event aligns with this year’s Children’s Week theme, “Everyone should know about Children’s Rights,” and includes interactive storytelling inspired by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Children will also take part in art and craft activities that encourage them to express their understanding of their rights, while guest speakers from the community will discuss topics such as education, inclusion, and protection.

“This event is about more than celebration, it’s about empowerment,” said Tony Hooper, CEO of Lion and Mouse Australia. “We’re creating a space where children with disabilities can learn about their rights, connect with others, and feel truly seen and heard.”
The High Tea is free for both children and parents and forms part of the official Victorian Government-supported Children’s Week calendar. The initiative continues Lion and Mouse Australia’s commitment to inclusive engagement and advocacy for vulnerable children.
Bryanna Allen, COO of Lion and Mouse Australia, said accessibility was at the heart of the event’s design. “Everyone deserves the chance to enjoy a beautiful high tea experience, especially children and families who often miss out due to accessibility barriers. We’ve designed this event to be safe, sensory-friendly, and inclusive, so every child can feel welcome, celebrated, and empowered.”
The event will be held at the Featherbrook Community Centre, 33–35 Windorah Drive, Point Cook, on Friday, 24 October, from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

Dear Reader,The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.
Thank you for your support.
Best wishes,
