Fijian students looking to pursue higher education abroad now have a fully funded opportunity to study in India. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), through the High Commission of India in Suva, has announced a fresh round of scholarships for the 2025-2026 academic year.

The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Scholarship Scheme, previously known as the General Scholarship Scheme, offers 20 places to Fijian students across undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programs. Courses in Engineering, Science, Commerce, Humanities, and Arts are all covered, though Medicine is excluded.

Successful applicants will have their tuition fees fully covered and receive a stipend for daily expenses, along with return economy-class airfare from Fiji to India. This means students can focus entirely on their education without the stress of financial burdens.

To apply, candidates must go through the ICCR’s A2A Scholarship Portal, which provides details on participating universities, course options, and eligibility criteria. The process requires meeting academic benchmarks, being between 18 and 30 years old for undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and demonstrating English proficiency. The upper age limit for PhD applicants is 50.

The Indian government has also launched additional initiatives like the Sagar Amrut Scholarship, catering to those interested in specialised training programs. Prospective students are encouraged to explore all options to find the best fit for their aspirations.

Application Process

Interested candidates are required to apply through the ICCR’s A2A (Admission to Alumni) Scholarship Portal. This platform provides detailed information about participating Indian universities, available courses, eligibility criteria, and the application process. The portal can be accessed at http://a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in/

We encourage the Fiji Indian community in Australia to spread the word among friends and family in Fiji. With applications open and deadlines approaching, this is the perfect time for students to take advantage of a fully funded academic experience in India.
