The Melton Community Hall buzzed with excitement on 21 December 2024, as the Australian Integrated Fijian Association of Victoria (AIFAV) hosted a lively Christmas celebration.
The event, running from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, drew families and individuals from diverse backgrounds, all eager to partake in the holiday festivities.
Attendees were greeted by the cheerful presence of Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, delighting children and adults alike. A free photo booth and face painting station added to the merriment, allowing guests to capture memories and express their festive spirit. Complimentary snacks and drinks were provided, ensuring everyone stayed refreshed throughout the afternoon.
The entertainment lineup featured live DJ performances, magic shows, and interactive games, creating an engaging atmosphere for all ages. Cultural performances showcased the rich heritage of the Fijian community, highlighting traditional dances and music that resonated with the audience.
Local MP Steve McGhie, representing the Melton District, attended the event, highlighting the importance of such gatherings in fostering community spirit. His presence was a nod to the significance of multicultural events in promoting inclusivity and unity within the region.
The Australian Integrated Fijian Association of Victoria, known for its commitment to cultural preservation and community engagement, organized the event with support from the Melton City Council and Australian Integrated Care Services Pty Ltd.
Their collaborative efforts ensured a successful celebration that brought together individuals from various cultural backgrounds.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing appreciation for the inclusive nature of the event and the opportunity to experience Fijian cultural traditions.
