Australia’s young cricket talent is gearing up for a defining summer as the 2024-25 National Talent Pathway Championships are set to bring the nation’s most promising underage players into the spotlight. The tournament kicks off with the Female U19’s National Championships at Perth’s iconic WACA Ground, providing the final selection stage for players vying for spots in the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup set for Malaysia in early 2025.
In Ballarat, the Under 16 Female National Championship will return for its second year, thanks to ongoing support from the City of Ballarat and the Ballarat Cricket Association. Meanwhile, Adelaide will be home to the U19 Male National Championships, and Launceston will host the Under 17 Male tournament at venues across the city, including the renowned UTAS Stadium.
These Championships offer young players a stage to showcase their skills and represent their states and territories, honing their talents against top contenders from across the country. Cricket Australia (CA) is set to announce final schedules and broadcast details shortly, ensuring fans nationwide can follow the action.
Sonya Thompson, Head of National Development at Cricket Australia, underscored the Championships’ role as a cornerstone in the national pathway, noting the event’s success in producing future stars. “The National Championships are an integral part of the Australian Cricket Pathway system, and we’re delighted our players will have the opportunity to represent their states and territories again this season,” she said.
Acknowledging the support from State and Territory Associations and host venues, Thompson added, “We thank the State and Territory Associations for their support and collaboration in making the National Championships possible and look forward to working with them to ensure a successful summer of cricket. CA is grateful for the support of all host venues and extends further thanks to the City of Ballarat for its ongoing support of our National Championships.”
