Biketober, one of Victoria’s most anticipated cycling initiatives, is back and open for registrations, with organisers encouraging all Victorians to hop on their bikes this October. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or someone looking to dust off your old bike, Biketober offers something for everyone—from individuals and families to businesses and friends.

Organised in partnership by RACV, Love to Ride, and the City of Melbourne, Biketober invites participants to log their bike rides throughout October, making cycling a fun, community-driven challenge. More than 200 businesses have already signed up, and there’s still plenty of room for more riders to join.

Biketober is completely free for workplaces in specific regions like Ballarat, Geelong, Melbourne, and several others. Businesses outside of these areas can join at half the price, and individual participants can take part without any fees. It’s an opportunity for workplaces to promote fitness, mental health, and environmental awareness, all while encouraging employees to get moving.

RACV’s General Manager of Mobility, Julia Hunter, highlighted the importance of initiatives like Biketober for fostering healthier lifestyles and supporting sustainable transportation.

“Biketober Victoria has been instrumental in encouraging people to cycle more often, and we’ve seen the real benefits it brings, not just to individual fitness but also to mental well-being and the workplace environment,” said Ms Hunter. “It’s also a fantastic opportunity for those who may have never cycled before to get involved in a fun, collaborative atmosphere.”

The impact of Biketober has already been felt across the state. Last year, the initiative saw a surge in participation, with 59 per cent of new riders continuing to cycle more regularly after the challenge ended.

RACV’s commitment to active transport doesn’t end with Biketober. They also offer RACV Bike Assist, providing support to cyclists in need, with the first year free for all Biketober participants. In addition, the RACV-developed arevo app is available to help riders find the safest and most efficient routes.

For anyone looking to enjoy the fresh air, boost their physical activity, and contribute to a greener future, Biketober is a great place to start. With free participation for individuals and discounted options for businesses, there’s never been a better time to join the challenge.
