Fr. Valerian, the Eucharistic service provided spiritual depth to the gathering, allowing attendees to reflect on their faith and shared beliefs

On 8 September 2024, the Mangalore Catholic Association of Sydney hosted a vibrant celebration that saw over 300 attendees come together for Monthi Fest. The event was a true reflection of shared faith, rich culture, and the warmth of community spirit, creating a memorable day for everyone involved.

The celebration began with a touching floral tribute to Mother Mary, a significant part of the feast’s religious tradition. Led by Fr. Valerian, the Eucharistic service provided spiritual depth to the gathering, allowing attendees to reflect on their faith and shared beliefs.

Following the service, the atmosphere turned lively with a series of cultural performances that brought the community’s heritage to life. The crowd was treated to a mix of traditional and modern acts, each highlighting the uniqueness of the Mangalorean culture. From music to dance, the stage was buzzing with energy, much to the delight of the audience.

Food played a starring role in the festivities, with a community-prepared meal that embodied the event’s spirit of togetherness. The feast was a joyful, delicious experience, as participants indulged in home-style dishes that were lovingly prepared by volunteers. The shared meal added a flavourful touch to an already delightful day.

A special mention goes to the sponsors who played a crucial role in ensuring the success of the event. Their generous contributions helped bring the community together for a day that will long be remembered.

For those who participated, it was a reaffirmation of cultural pride and community ties. As photos and stories from the day circulate, the memories will continue to warm hearts long after the festivities have ended.

We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution.
