After over seven years of dedicated service, Kashif Bouns is set to leave his position as General Manager of Community & Government Relations at the Western Bulldogs. His next career move will see him taking up the mantle as Director, Strategy and Operations at the Victorian Multicultural Commission next month.

Kashif’s tenure at the Bulldogs was marked by noteworthy advancements in community engagement and significant organisational growth. Under his leadership, the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation evolved into a premier institution for community development throughout Melbourne’s western suburbs.

Reflecting on his experiences, Kashif expressed a heartfelt appreciation for the support he received, “I am incredibly grateful to all who have supported me on this journey,” noting the collaborative efforts with stakeholders, staff, and volunteers that enabled the foundation to profoundly influence numerous lives.

Kashif takes pride in the tangible results achieved, “I am exceptionally proud of the real outcomes we have achieved for the people of the mighty west.”

Ameet Bains, CEO of the Western Bulldogs, praised Kashif’s contributions, highlighting his role in expanding the foundation’s scope and influence. “During his time at the Community Foundation, Kash has overseen significant growth across all areas of the Foundation, helping build it into one of, if not the leading sporting community organisation in the country,” Bains commented.

Kashif’s approach was deeply embedded in community engagement, showcasing his skills in advocacy and commitment to societal benefits. His efforts have been recognized as instrumental in enhancing the foundation’s operations and outreach.

Jenny Taing, the newly-elected chair, commended his visionary leadership that catalysed the foundation’s evolution into a pivotal entity for the community. “On behalf of the Board, I wish to thank Kashif for his tenacious and entrepreneurial leadership which has seen the Community Foundation grow into a leading and impactful organisation for those in the west,” she stated.

The narrative of Kashif Bouns is truly inspiring. Starting his journey in Australia as an international student from Pakistan, he has established a successful career, intertwining his love for sport and community work. His commitment is evident in every facet of his work and continues to resonate within the Western Bulldogs community.

As he prepares to embark on his new role, his legacy at the Bulldogs remains indelible. “He leaves a wonderful legacy at the Foundation, the club and the west. Kashif will forever be a member of the Bulldogs family,” the statement from the club read.

The search for a new General Manager to fill his big shoes is underway, as the Foundation looks forward to continuing its impactful work in the community. As Kashif Bouns moves on to his new role, his influence at the Western Bulldogs will undoubtedly continue to be felt for years to come.

Support Independent Community Journalism

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.

We operate independently.

Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.

When you support The Indian Sun, you support:

• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers

We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.

If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.

Please consider making a contribution today.

Thank you for your support.
