In a dazzling display of cultural vibrancy, the North Queensland Hindu Community (NQHC) recently relived the magic of Diwali, leaving the community hall resounding with joy and the echoes of heartfelt celebrations.
Our heartfelt gratitude extends to the incredible hosts, Sai and Manasi, who skilfully wove the enchanting tales of Diwali with a warmth and grace that transported everyone to a realm of magic and tradition. Their efforts created an atmosphere where every corner of the hall radiated the spirit of the Festival of Lights.
The air was filled with spirituality as community members immersed themselves in soulful bhajans, creating an ambiance that was not just heard but felt. Kudos to each participant for contributing to the spiritual tapestry that enriched our collective Diwali experience.
The celebration reached new heights with a divine classical dance performance by Geetha from Geetha Natyalaya and her exceptionally talented students, Kavina Bharthi and Videhi Menon. Their dedication and mesmerising expressions wove a story of pure bliss, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts and souls of everyone present.
Gratitude flowed to Malati from ISKCON for her soul-stirring Harati that resonated through the room, elevating our spirits and fostering a profound sense of divine connection. Her contribution added a sacred touch to our Diwali celebrations, making them even more special.
Thanks to our unsung heroes—the volunteers, whose dedication and love transformed the festivities into a feast for the soul. From preparing delicious treats to serving them with warmth, their efforts added an extra layer of joy to our Diwali celebration. The aroma of the food and the genuine service created an atmosphere that felt like home.
To each contributor, participant, and everyone who shared in the joy of Diwali, your presence turned this celebration into a shared journey of love, unity, and joy. As the last echoes of the festivities fade away, the memories created will forever be etched in our hearts. Thank you for making this Diwali not just a celebration but a profound experience of community, connection, and everlasting joy.

Support Independent Community Journalism
Dear Reader,The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.
We operate independently.
Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.
When you support The Indian Sun, you support:
• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers
We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.
If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.
