Cricket Australia (CA) boss, Nick Hockley, showered commendations on the Australian Men’s team following their triumphant tour of England, branding it a feat to inspire a generation.

In an unparalleled cricket achievement, the Australian squad brought home a glorious double victory, securing both Ashes retention and the inaugural World Test Championship title.

Notably, the Ashes series wrapped up in a draw, 2-2, with the fifth Test snatched by England at The Oval. Yet, despite the nail-biting conclusion, the team’s performance across the series coupled with their World Test Championship title marked a period of immense success for Australian cricket.

The victorious run involved six physically demanding Test matches in a mere eight weeks. The relentless effort and dedication showcased by the Australians was a testament to their unwavering spirit, even amidst the strains of a packed cricketing schedule.

“We are all immensely proud of Pat Cummins and his team for all they have realised on their English expedition,” stated Hockley. “Their determination to bring home the World Test Championship trophy and the Ashes, in spite of tough conditions and formidable opposition, speaks volumes about the calibre of players and support staff.”

In a move stirring nostalgia and admiration, Hockley recognised the grit of retiring English fast-bowler, Stuart Broad. Hockley credited Broad’s prowess as an essential factor in keeping the matches engaging and memorable, and lauded England’s proactive gameplay.

A special note was also made about the intense passion of cricket fans. “Both the men’s and women’s Ashes have been gripping series that have sparked the interest of the cricketing world,” Hockley added. “These games have lived up to the anticipation of one of the fiercest rivalries in global sport, motivating numerous youngsters to grab a bat and ball this summer.”

The Chief Executive rounded off his tribute by expressing gratitude to the fanbase. “I would like to extend a hearty thanks to all the cricketing enthusiasts, both in Australia and those who made their way to England, for their unwavering support. We eagerly await the opportunity to host England for the return series in 2025-26.”

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability.
