Melbourne based mom daughter duo—baby Zara, and mom Jeyashree set to star in a local production—Agrajeeta

Melbourne based Australian-Indian child Zara Avatapalli is set to make her screen debut as a child actor in Director Sandeep Raj’s Agrajeeta—a Telegu language movie shot in, and around Melbourne.

Elder daughter of award-winning technologist Mrs. Jeyashree Nishtala, and IT professional Shyam Avatapalli, Zara is currently studying in Prep at a Grammar School in the leafy eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

Zara would also be sharing screen space with her mom in the movie. The female lead in the movie would be another talented local Melburnian—Mrs. Priyanka Nomula.

Zara’s mom Jeyashree works as Head of Retail technology with a leading Australian Bank. She is a multilingual and can speak Tamil, Telugu, English and Hindi. An active member of Victorian Indian community, Jeyashree can be seen supporting and attending various Indian events across Victoria.

An AFL fan, Jeyashree is a supporter of Richmond Tigers FC, and was nominated as one of their AFL India Ambassador in 2017. She had received the AFL India Ambassador Certificate from South Indian Actress and Honorary Member for Richmond Tigers Mrs Khushbu Sundar.

Jeyashree was invited to Tiger’s home ground when Udaipur Prince HH Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar was presented with the Honorary Membership of Tigers. She had also hosted South Indian Music Director “DSP”, when he was given a tour of the Tiger’s home ground.

When famed American Indian technocrat Dr Sam Pitroda visited Melbourne for a technology event, Jeyashree was chosen as Master of Ceremony (MC) for that prestigious event. Dr Sam Pitroda is widely credited as father of India’s Telecom and IT revolution.

On another note, Jeyashree wants to see more support for local artists and productions, when it comes to state and federal governments allocating funds for film productions. Jeyashree had passionately raised the same issue with the Victorian opposition leader Hon. Matthew Guy when she had met with him at the ISKCON Temple in 2018.

Jeyashree had also extended her support to former ministerial adviser Mr. Nitin Gupta’s policy suggestion of engaging with Indian expats in USA as part of Australia and Victoria’s India engagement strategies. Jeyashree strongly feels that engaging with Indian Americans would be a great addition to Australia and Victoria’s India engagement strategies.

We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution.
