Wyndham City Council will be offering a series of seminars on how to gain employment in local industries, as part of a new set of social and economic inclusion initiatives, which focusses on matching local people with job vacancies.
The next phase of the rollout is Council’s partnering with The Gordon TAFE to host a series of free industry seminars to offer jobseekers insights into several local industries, how they recruit staff, and how you can be in the running for a job in many different industries.
The next of these free events focusses on the Warehouse and Logistics Industry, where jobseekers can gain real insight and understand how to break into the fast-paced warehousing and logistics sector.
Future Focussed Economy Portfolio Holder Cr Walter Villagonzalo said local logistics employers, Oxford Cold Storage, Toll Group, and Complete Office Solutions, would talk about the future of the industry, opportunities for career progression, explain what is needed to get involved in the industry and answer any questions.
“This is an exciting opportunity for anyone considering jumping on board the booming logistics industry and may encourage jobseekers to work towards gaining employment in the area,” Cr Villagonzalo said.
“Jobseekers may not realise that even if their previous job was in a different industry, they may have skills that can be used in other employment areas and this series of workshop will demonstrate how skills can be transferrable as well as learning about the many local employers and work available,” Cr Villagonzalo said.
At the seminar industry leaders will explain what they are looking for in the recruitment process and will offer tips on how resumes and applications can be tailored to fit a job vacancy. There will also be plenty of opportunities to network with other jobseekers and support staff from The Gordon TAFE and employment services sector.
Wyndham residents are invited to Insights into the Warehousing and Logistics industry at Encore Events Centre, Tuesday 22 October, at 10am.

Support Independent Community Journalism
Dear Reader,The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.
We operate independently.
Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.
When you support The Indian Sun, you support:
• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers
We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.
If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.
Please consider making a contribution today.
Thank you for your support.
