Get ready for the brightest and most colourful Bring It On! Festival ever when it returns to Fairfield Showground on Sunday, 14 April, 12pm to 7.30pm
The festival is NSW’s biggest and best celebration of youth culture, talent, music and art, and this year will feature the inaugural Rainbow Run.
Rainbow Run participants will be challenged by a fun obstacle course, where they will be splashed in colourful powder at regular intervals.
The run will be followed by a foam dance party.
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said the Rainbow Run celebrates the diversity of Fairfield City.
“Bring It On! is a wonderful way to bring young people and families together,” Mayor Carbone said.
“We are committed to holding events that bring families, friends and neighbours together, to be active and celebrate our amazing city and the talents of the people who live here.
The Rainbow Run has been named after the multicultural city and the diversity of people who have come to Fairfield City from around the globe.
“I’m looking forward to seeing thousands of young people at our new Fairfield Showground festivals arena at what will be our biggest and best Bring It On! Yet,” Mayor Carbone said.
The Rainbow Run joins an exciting line up for this year’s festival, including music and dance performances, carnival rides, yard games and sporting activities, along with informative and exciting community stalls focused on youth wellbeing and mental health.
Bring It On! includes a comprehensive leadership and development program that aims to build the skills, knowledge and confidence of young people aged 14-24.
Each year Council offers a range of learning and volunteering opportunities that engages up to 150 volunteers. The 2019 Leadership and Development program is called Bring It On! Synergy and will include youth skills training alongside a youth mental health campaign.
For those between 14-24 who would like to volunteer at the Bring It On! Festival, applications are available at www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/biovolunteers and close on Monday, 11 March. All volunteers must reside in the Fairfield LGA and must be available to attend a compulsory Volunteer Orientation and Induction session on 6 April from 10am-1pm.
Skills training is also being offered in photography, film and sound, and stage production.
Workshops will commence on Monday, 11 March. Participants in these workshops will automatically be included as volunteers and go on to apply these skills in volunteer crews at the festival. Visit www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/BringItOn for registration details.
Bring It On! is a NSW Youth Week event and is the flagship event in the Fairfield Youth Week Program.
The NSW Youth Advisory Council has identified ‘Coming Together to Connect, Share, Speak Out and Celebrate’ as the theme for NSW Youth Week in 2019. Bring it On! touches on each aspect of the theme.
