Sir Eric Woodward School is holding fundraising initiative Comedy for a Cause on Saturday October 22. The school in St Ives provides quality education for students with mild, moderate or severe intellectual disability, physical disability, autism spectrum disorder, and complex medical conditions. The school prides itself on learning in partnership, working with the community and providing vital integrated services to complement each students learning including music therapy and speech and physical therapy.

Comedy for a Cause is being held to raise much-needed funds to continue services that make a difference to life beyond school for our students. As the school enrolls student in both a face to face and distance education delivery mode, the students are local to Northern Sydney and are also Statewide NSW.

Comedy for a Cause facilitates shows for schools and charities across Australia and features some of the best comedians from both Sydney and Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Hornsby RSL has supported Sir Eric Woodward School on many occasions and continues support by providing the venue for the event.

If you would like to know more about the programs, students and staff at Sir Eric Woodward School visit their website at http://sews.wpengine.com/ or on Facebook.

Sir Eric Woodward School Comedy for a Cause tickets are now on sale and can be purchased for $35.00 at http://comedyforacause.net/tc-events/sews/.

Join them at Hornsby RSL on Saturday 22 October at 8pm to have a laugh and raise funds for students to ensure that music, speech, and occupational and physiotherapy in 2017 can be offered.

Support Independent Community Journalism

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.

We operate independently.

Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.

When you support The Indian Sun, you support:

• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers

We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.

If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.

Please consider making a contribution today.

Thank you for your support.

The Indian Sun Team
