Tucked away in the Southern area of South Korea, I spent six weeks at a meditation centre
I believe in the benefits of meditation and have actively tried to practice the method over the last 20 years. I however, like many others, struggled with being able to free my mind from the constant interruptive thoughts that invade and sabotage my efforts.
Then I discovered a method of meditation that actually works for me, giving results in a miraculously short time.
I practice here in Melbourne, but decided to attend the main centre where I soon discovered the popularity of this method.
It was amazing to see how many people were in attendance each week. On the weekends, the centre is flooded with local Koreans who give up their weekends to meditate and participate in lectures on meditation.
It seems really crazy, to those who are not meditators, but the South Koreans relish the time they spend at the centre. The method is an accepted part of their lifestyle—with children as young as six dancing and participating in the meditation sessions.
The centre is plum in the middle of the countryside, south of Seoul. Nestled behind a mountain range, each day I marveled at the beauty of these mountains as they changed as quickly as the weather.
I’ve never done anything like this before, and whilst it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, it was definitely an experience I won’t forget.
