Families will have the chance to explore NSW Parliament House and learn about the state’s parliamentary system during the annual Family Fun Day on Friday 9 October.
The free school holiday event will be held at NSW Parliament House on Macquarie Street, Sydney, from 9.30am to 3.45pm. The programme is designed for children and families, with activities combining creativity, entertainment and an introduction to how Parliament works.
Children can take part in art and craft workshops, interactive storytelling, live music and dance activities. The day will also include opportunities to explore the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council Chambers.
The NSW Electoral Commission will be involved in activities introducing children to voting and democracy, while a mock parliamentary committee role play will give participants an opportunity to take part in a simulated parliamentary process.
The event is being promoted by Penrith MP Karen McKeown OAM, who has encouraged families to attend during the school holidays.
NSW Parliament says Family Fun Day is free, although bookings are essential. Tickets are required for attendees aged five and over, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
The event will take place at NSW Parliament House, 6 Macquarie Street, Sydney, on Friday 9 October 2026.
