Senator Paul Scarr has recognised Bhartiya Samaj’s Empowering People, Strengthening Queensland 2026 event in the Australian Parliament, praising its contribution to Queensland’s multicultural community and community connections.
The event was held at Brisbane City Hall and brought together representatives from community organisations, businesses, charities and government to celebrate multicultural contributions across Queensland.
In his parliamentary remarks, Senator Scarr said it was a pleasure to attend the event and described it as a celebration of Queensland’s multicultural success.
“The event was a wonderful celebration of Queensland’s multicultural success, bringing together communities, businesses, charities and government to strengthen connections and build understanding,” he said.
He congratulated the award recipients and thanked everyone involved in organising the event, saying it was a reminder that strong communities are built by people connecting with people.
Bhartiya Samaj welcomed the recognition in Parliament, saying it reflected the purpose of the event, which focused on strengthening community ties and recognising the efforts of individuals and organisations across Queensland’s multicultural community.
Organisers said the event aimed to encourage collaboration between community groups, businesses, charities and government agencies while celebrating the diversity of communities across the state.
Empowering People, Strengthening Queensland 2026 featured awards recognising community leadership and service, with participants from a range of cultural and professional backgrounds.
The parliamentary recognition has brought national attention to the role multicultural organisations play in fostering social cohesion and civic participation across Queensland.
