Victorian Opposition Leader Jess Wilson has visited multicultural and multifaith communities across Melbourne as part of the Liberal-Nationals’ Fresh Start Tour, meeting with faith leaders, community representatives and local congregations.
Ms Wilson was joined by Shadow Minister for Multicultural and Multifaith Affairs Evan Mulholland MP and Shadow Minister for Industry, Manufacturing and Innovation, AI and the Digital Economy Richard Welch MP during visits to several community organisations and places of worship, including the Shiva Vishnu Temple in Carrum Downs, BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Mill Park, Kali Mata Mandir in Craigieburn, Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurudwara in Craigieburn and Sikh Volunteers Australia.
The visits provided an opportunity for the Opposition team to hear from community members about issues affecting families, including cost-of-living pressures, community safety and access to support services.
Ms Wilson also spoke about the Liberal-Nationals’ 10-year Economic Plan and Safer Communities Plan, outlining the party’s approach to economic management, reducing household pressures and addressing concerns around crime.
Community leaders and members welcomed the delegation, with discussions focused on the priorities of local families and the role of community organisations in supporting Victorians.
The Fresh Start Tour is part of Ms Wilson’s broader effort to visit all 88 lower house districts ahead of the next state election, with the Opposition leader saying the tour is designed to hear directly from communities across Victoria.
“Victoria needs a fresh start, and my team has a plan to deliver it,” Ms Wilson said.
“Victoria is too big and too diverse to be run from Spring Street alone. Every community deserves to be heard.”
“My team and I will visit all 88 lower house districts to speak directly to Victorians about how a Liberal and Nationals Government will return hope and prosperity to our state.”
Ms Wilson said the party’s focus would include reducing crime, easing cost pressures and improving government services.
“Victoria isn’t working under Labor because Labor isn’t working for Victorians,” she said.
“We have a plan to reduce crime, lower costs and give Victoria a government that works.”
The tour comes as political parties continue to engage with communities across Victoria, with multicultural organisations and faith groups playing an active role in representing local concerns and community needs.
