Brisbane’s preparations for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games have taken another step forward, with organisers revealing the official Games Vision: Believe. Belong. Become. Brisbane 2032. The phrase is intended to act as an aspirational guide for planning and delivery across the next eight years.
The Queensland Government says the vision is part of its wider 2032 Delivery Plan, which focuses on transport links, long-term infrastructure and support for tourism and community sport. Ministers framed the release as a fresh start after what they described as a long period of stalled progress.
More than 6,000 people contributed ideas during the consultation phase, with about half coming from Queensland. The organising committee says that input shaped the tone and direction of the vision, which is meant to anchor the cultural and social themes that will sit alongside the sporting programme.
Sports and Olympic Minister Tim Mander said the Games have the potential to highlight Queensland on the global stage. He framed the vision as a reflection of the state’s ambition and said it was designed to send a clear message about inclusivity and participation.
Committee president Andrew Liveris said the three-word motto is intended to guide decision-making as the event approaches. He described the phrase as a reminder of the values organisers want to promote, adding that Queensland’s communities already show those qualities in their day-to-day life.
Liveris also pointed to the broader opportunity for the region, saying that hosting the Games could lift Queensland’s profile as a place to visit, invest and build long-term projects. He emphasised that anticipation is rising and that the aim is to present a Games that feels cohesive, community-driven and welcoming.
The release of the vision marks one of the early public steps in a lengthy preparation phase. Much of the work from here will focus on infrastructure, transport readiness and supporting the sports system across the state. With eight years to go, organisers say the goal is to keep the planning transparent and ensure communities stay connected to how the event is being shaped.
