The Allan Labor Government is offering families a helping hand with the cost of children’s sports and activities through the latest round of Get Active Kids vouchers. The $200 vouchers will help families pay for memberships, registration fees, uniforms, or equipment so kids can keep doing what they love this summer.

Premier Jacinta Allan and Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence announced the program’s next round at the Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centre, with applications opening on Wednesday.

The program, which received a $15 million boost in the 2025–26 Victorian Budget, aims to make sport more accessible to families across the state. More than 65,000 vouchers are expected to be distributed over the next two years.

Since it began in 2020, almost 190,000 vouchers have already been used by families. More than half say their children would have missed out on sport without the support, and nearly one in five used the voucher to join a local club for the first time.

Premier Jacinta Allan said the initiative helps families keep their kids healthy and active. “Costs shouldn’t be a barrier to joining a footy or basketball team or taking up swimming lessons,” she said. “We’re making it easier for families to keep their little ones active.”

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence said the vouchers have been a success since the program began. “This is such a popular and successful program – and by investing in another round, thousands more kids will get the chance to play sports.”

More than 70 sports are covered under the program, with more than 2,300 registered activity providers across Victoria. Families can apply online and redeem the vouchers through a provider such as a local club, or claim a reimbursement of up to $200 per child.

Eligibility extends to children aged 18 or under who are listed on a Commonwealth Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, and named on a Medicare Card. There are also special provisions for children in care, migrants, temporary or provisional visa holders, and international students.

Local MP Kathleen Matthews-Ward said the program has been well received in her area. “This program is always a hit with local families. These vouchers will mean more kids can take part and support our local sports clubs.”

A second round of the program will open early next year. Families can find out more or apply at getactive.vic.gov.au/vouchers.
