Cricket Australia has released the full schedule for BBL|15, and it’s shaping up to be a relentless summer of prime-time action, headlined by international stars, old rivalries, and back-to-back double headers.

The new season kicks off on Sunday, December 14, with Pakistani opener Babar Azam expected to make his Big Bash debut for the Sydney Sixers against the Scorchers at Perth’s Optus Stadium. And from that moment, the matches come thick and fast, every single night, right through to the final on January 25.

Every team gets a home game within the first ten days. The calendar is bookended by crowd-pulling fixtures: a grand final rematch between the Hurricanes and Thunder, followed by the classic Sydney Smash, then moving straight into marquee clashes like the Melbourne derby, the Heat’s traditional New Year’s Eve clash at Adelaide Oval, and the Sixers hosting the Stars on Boxing Day.

For viewers, the appeal is clear. There’s live BBL every night of the week, including six prime-time double headers, all scheduled to avoid clashes with school holidays and other events. Thirty regular season matches and all four finals will air live and free on Seven and 7plus, while the full 44-match season is available ad-free on Kayo Sports and Foxtel, including 10 exclusive to Fox Cricket.

Alistair Dobson from Cricket Australia called it “a fixture packed with highlights,” noting the League had aimed to maintain momentum and variety through a mix of big stadium matches and regional venues. The Renegades will again open at Geelong’s GMHBA Stadium, the Sixers return to Coffs Harbour, while the Thunder and Stars will each take a game to Canberra.

“This schedule ensures the BBL remains the heartbeat of summer,” Dobson said. “We’ve been blown away by the quality of overseas talent and can’t wait to see these global stars line up with some of Australia’s biggest names.”

Last season’s BBL saw strong fan turnout and viewership, bolstered by international recruits and closely fought matches. League organisers are hoping to build on that momentum with an earlier start, uninterrupted matches, and a compact finals series designed to avoid clashes with other cricket or sporting fixtures.

The final week of the regular season, which runs from December 14 to January 18, promises to be tight, with several fixtures likely to determine finals positions. The top teams will then battle it out across four matches, culminating in the final on January 25.

Seven Network’s Joel Starcevic said the broadcaster was “ecstatic” to bring fans the best of the summer action, pointing to the return of in-stadium commentary and prime-time showdowns.

Fox Sports’ Joe Bromham added that BBL|15 would continue to deliver “epic prime time entertainment,” with every match in 4K and expert commentary throughout.

With school holidays aligning perfectly and stars like Babar Azam joining the mix, the Big Bash League is aiming for full houses and full screens across the country. There’s no Ashes distraction this time, which gives the BBL an open runway for six weeks of family-friendly cricket that’s as much about the spectacle as it is about the sport.

The full schedule is now live, with matches running nightly except for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Fans can download the official BBL app for exclusive content, sign up for club memberships, and add matches to their calendars. The countdown has begun.
